The Fujiwara family began as swordsmiths over 130 years ago. Teruyasu Fujiwara, a 4th generation master blacksmith, turned to making kitchen knives in order to recapture the family’s previous glory.
His knives are well known for their hardness and their ability to take a very sharp edge. These blades are considered some of the sharpest on the planet.
Fujiwara-San is based in Tokyo, his work is highly prized for its superior heat treatment which results in a very sharp edge. He invented stainless steel-coated carbon steel knives, a type of knife that is still growing in popularity even today.

Made entirely by hand, it is composed of a dyed and stabilized boxelder burl, faux ivory spacers, bog oak ferrule and bottom cap.
The Nashiji series allows us to taste his incredible work at much lower prices than the Maboroshi or Denka series.
The blades in this series are forged from Shirogami #1 steel, with an amazing hardness of around 64-65 HRC. The geometry is slightly convex combined with the Nashiji finish offers us incredible food release.
